TITANIC

RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early hours of 15 April 1912, after colliding with an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York There were an estimated 2,224 people aboard, and more than 1,500 died,  

The Titanic was the largest ship of its time.  It was the second of three Ocean Liners operated by the White Star Line. It was built by the Harland and Wolf shipyard in Belfast. Her Architect, Thomas Andrews, was on the ship and died in the disaster.
